Meet Caro Syson: Founder of Cheer We Go

Hitting The Wall

Hi. I’m Caro Syson, founder of Cheer We Go, and supporter of Superheroes (without capes) everywhere.

It all started on a sunny afternoon in 2015, at around mile 20 of the London Marathon.

After feeling pretty good until that point, I hit the dreaded wall, and the doubts and gremlin voices started to creep in. Who did I think I was, believing I could do this? Why isn’t anyone else slowing down? Maybe I could just walk the rest of the way? Or maybe I can't even do that?!

"But then, something incredible happened—other voices began to fill my mind. I pictured my four children waiting at the finish line, cheering me on. I could almost hear them: 'You’ve got this, Mum! Don’t give up now!' They’d remind me of all the hard work and training I’d put in, and how much they believed in me.

With those imagined voices on a constant loop, my doubts started to fade. I kept moving, step by step, determined to finish what I’d set out to do. It wasn’t easy, but I pushed through.

That experience left me reflecting deeply on the profound impact of the voices we hear and how they can transform our toughest moments."

The Idea

Fast forward five years to when lockdown hit, and disconnection became the norm. Around the same time, I received a late diagnosis of autism - two life-changing events that reinforced the immense importance of support, connection, and kindness in our lives.

I began reflecting on the incredible power of using our voices to uplift others. I thought of all the people in our lives who could use a boost - just as I had during the London Marathon, through the isolation of lockdown, and in so many other moments when life felt heavy and uncertain.

I wanted to create a way for people to feel connected and supported through the power of our collective voice messages, to replay whenever we needed to remind ourselves.

The Start of Something Great

And so, Cheer We Go was born - because the world needs more encouragement to cheer people on or cheer them up.

From those sick in hospital to families separated in different countries, teachers going the extra mile, couples saying “I do,” or friends facing really tough times - we all know someone who needs some kind, uplifting words from their loved ones.

I hope this inspires you to cheer on the unsung Superheroes in your life and create a keepsake memory they can cherish forever.
